The excavation of the foundations Outside the Water Gate in Gorinchem is keeping the minds of the city busy. As a follow-up to the lecture evening earlier in the Gymnasium in Gorinchem, the Historical Society "Oud-Gorcum" is therefore organizing an evening on Monday evening, March 13, with the theme "The Blue Tower: why was it in Gorinchem and what can we do with it?"
Robert Stein, associate professor of Medieval History at Leiden University, will speak during the first half of the evening about Charles the BoldUnder his reign, Blue Tower Castle built.
For the second part of the evening, a connection with current events will be sought. After the introduction about the function of historical awareness for the city by the chairman of the association, alderman Arjen Rijsdijk will indicate in conversation with those present what the possibilities and impossibilities of the municipality are to deal with the found wall remains. Afterwards, there will be room for questions. Fred Delfgaauw will act as moderator.
