During excavations in Gorinchem, parts of the foundations of a noble house from the 14th century were found.de century, which belonged to Jan van Arkel. The excavations, partly even from the 13de century, according to the archaeologists, provide insight into the residence of Van Arkel, a nobleman who played an important role in the history of Gorinchem.
The house stood prominently in front among other wooden houses. The remains are drawn, photographed and then removed. Construction of a shop will begin at the site of the find at the end of September.
