In 2010 Gorinchem received the province of South Holland permission to establish a municipal depot. This means, among other things, that from that moment on all finds found during excavations within the municipal boundaries remain the property of Gorinchem.
The municipality of Gorinchem guarantees responsible management, so that these finds are preserved for scientific research, heritage institutions, museums, and other interested parties.

Special collection
The depot now houses a very varied collection of finds, which extends from prehistory to the Second World War. All documentation of archaeological research, such as research reports, drawings and photographs, is also kept safely in the depot.
Archaeological workspace
The Gorcum depot is managed entirely by volunteers, who have a workspace for the professional restoration and conservation of various archaeological finds.

Visit
The depot and workspace are accessible to researchers and other interested parties. An important part of the collection is visible in open shelving and display cases. Visits are only possible by appointment or during the National Archaeology Days. More information: info@archeologiegorinchem.com
