Research Outside the Water Gate August 30, 2017
On Wednesday, August 30, around the previously discovered archaeological site wall remains outside the Water Gate mechanical soil drilling was carried out to gain a better insight into the location of the remains still present under the ground, so that the foundation and pile plan of the hotel to be built can be adjusted accordingly. The research was carried out on behalf of the permit holder and archaeologically supervised by SOB research, assisted by several volunteers from the municipal depot.
Feasibility study
The permit holder of the Buiten de Waterpoort hotel has made a proposal to incorporate the archaeological finds into the hotel to be built. This proposal must first be investigated for feasibility, for which the permit holder wanted approval from the board. The board, after consulting the municipal council about the proposal in question, has expressed a positive opinion. The permit holder has the green light from the board to carry out a feasibility study; if feasibility is proven, he may carry out his proposal.
